Discover how Invisalign can benefit you with our patient-friendly guide below.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses a series of customized clear aligners to straighten your teeth over a set period of time. Designed with comfort in mind, your clear aligners will form around the natural grooves of your teeth for a perfect fit. Best of all, Invisalign aligners can be removed when eating and drinking. With Invisalign, you can straighten your smile in as little as half the time as traditional braces.

The following dental problems can be corrected with the use of Invisalign:

  • LARGE GAPS BETWEEN TEETH
  • OVERLY CROWDED TEETH
  • CROSSBITE
  • OVERBITE
  • UNDERBITE
  • OPEN BITE

Invisalign Benefits

Invisalign has become a patient favorite treatment due to its many benefits, including:

  • QUICK TREATMENT TIME

Invisalign treatment can be completed on average between 12 and 18 months.

  • COMFORTABLE

Customized for you, your clear aligner trays sit comfortably in your mouth.

  • DISCREET APPEARANCE

Since the aligners are almost invisible, you can straighten your teeth without anyone noticing.

  • REMOVABLE

Aligners can be removed for convenient eating and drinking.

Caring for Your Invisalign Retainer

It’s important to properly clean and care for your Invisalign aligners to ensure they’re free of bacteria and food debris. To keep your aligners in excellent condition, practice the following:

  • RINSE

Rinse your aligners with water every night.

  • BRUSH

Brush your aligners with a soft-bristled toothbrush (one that you don’t use daily on your teeth) and gentle liquid soap to remove any debris that has accumulated throughout the day.

  • BE THOROUGH

Always rinse thoroughly after brushing.

  • PROPER STORAGE

Store your aligners in their protective case when not in use.

The Invisalign Process

You’ll achieve a straighter smile with Invisalign in three easy steps.

Step 1

Initial Consultation

To begin, you’ll visit our Lubbock dental practice for an initial consultation with Dr. Ketron. During this consultation, we’ll evaluate your orthodontic condition, discuss your smile goals, and answer any questions. We’ll also use our advanced dental technology to take highly accurate impressions of your teeth in order to create your customized aligners.

Step 2

Wearing Your Aligners

Invisalign treatment consists of a series of custom-made aligners that are swapped out every two weeks. Each phase of the series is designed to influence a certain set of teeth, gently repositioning them into the correct alignment. To achieve your desired results, make sure to wear your aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours a day, only removing them to eat or drink.

Step 3

Show Off Your Smile

Depending on your oral health needs, Invisalign treatment will take 12 to 18 months to complete. However, it’s common to start seeing positive results within the first few weeks. During your treatment, our exceptional dentists will monitor your progress and make any adjustments as needed. Once your Invisalign treatment is finished, you can start enjoying all the benefits of your beautiful, new smile.
